Hope is informed by Liam that their marriage is finished. Hope pleaded with Liam to pay attention to her and prevent their marriage from being ruined by her kiss. "I cherish you!" Hope screamed through her sobs, pleading for pardon. Because he was unable to "unsee" Hope kissing Thomas, Liam snarled. Hope urged Liam to shift his focus from the kiss to the future—and the future of their family—instead.
For months, Liam claimed Hope had been "gaslighting" him. Liam growled, "I never believed it would be you after him. Hope was adamant that things weren't like that. "I even don't understand it. I did not desire this. Hope sobbed freely, trying to find the words to explain, "I don't know why I am feeling this way. Hope vehemently claimed that her justification was an excuse.
Hope apologized fervently to Liam, but his response was indifferent. "I don't believe you," Liam retorted. Liam acknowledged his fatigue to Hope. He informed Hope that he would return later with some of his belongings as he went for his jacket. He then abruptly revealed to Hope that he desired a divorce. Hope was inconsolable and silent as she struggled to comprehend what had happened. Hope turned and stared at the door, but she remained mute until Liam left the cabin.
Later, there was a knock on the door. As soon as she could, Hope stood up and yelled Liam's name. When R.J. walked into the cabin, she was unable to conceal her dissatisfaction. R.J. bragged that he was there to celebrate Hope's achievement, but he knew something wasn't right right away. Hope was invited to talk to R.J. about anything as he was kneeling next to her.
Hope described the talk she had with Liam after getting home. R.J. grinned broadly when he realized Liam had indeed traveled to Rome. Hope stated solemnly, "He missed the entire event, and I didn't even see him." R.J. was disappointed that Liam had traveled so far without being able to see Hope. "No, he saw me," Hope said. After the fashion preview, Hope said to R.J. that she had intended to go sightseeing but "got caught up in the moment." As she searched for the right words to describe what had happened, she looked skyward.
Hope clarified that she hadn't been alone when Liam had spotted her. R.J. knew Hope had been with Thomas, but he couldn't fathom why Liam would be furious over seeing them happy-happy after a job well done. Hope paused abruptly and explained that she didn't want to worry her younger brother. R.J. suggested getting Brooke, but Hope instantly rejected that plan.
R.J. praised Liam as a man who was obviously in love with Hope while yet being uninformed of the reason why Liam had abruptly left Rome. He truly does adore you, R.J. affirmed. "Yeah, he did," Hope said. R.J. asked his sister why she was using the past tense. R.J. stood up and gave it some thought before inquiring of Hope as to what Liam had witnessed upon his arrival in Rome. I wasn't only with Thomas, you know. Hope confessed, "I kissed him.
Wyatt was called to meet Liam in the Spencer Publications' executive office. Liam announced that he will be relocating with Bill for the time being. Wyatt appeared to be unsure of how to assist his brother. Wyatt expressed his hope that Liam could benefit from some downtime. Liam remarked icily, "Neither will time repair this, nor will any justification about the magic of Rome or getting caught up in the moment. When Liam revealed that he desired a divorce from Hope, Wyatt was astounded.
Wyatt swore to support Liam and be there for him no matter what. When Wyatt questioned Liam about what was coming up, Liam said he had "so many regrets." Wyatt enquired as to what that meant, but Liam just turned around and left the room.
Steffy and Finn discussed Hope and Liam's difficulties before Finn left for work. Finn found it difficult to imagine what Liam must have felt having "traveled halfway across the world to find his wife kissing another man." Steffy hoped Liam could extend the same forgiveness to his wife because Liam had always described Hope as the most forgiving person he knew. Because Thomas was involved, Finn had his doubts that Liam would be able to accomplish it.
Steffy revealed to Finn that she had advised Hope to control her feelings and had even tried to alert Liam to what had been happening. Steffy and Finn were concerned about the possible effects of Hope and Thomas' kiss.
Later, after Finn had left for work, Liam rapped on the beach house's door. Steffy invited Liam inside and questioned him about his purpose upon entering. Steffy was curious as to what had transpired between Liam and Hope. Liam revealed that he had to bring up the subject with Hope because she hadn't told him about kissing Thomas. I cut her off. Liam declared, "I'm through with this. Liam was persuaded by Steffy that he needed some time. Liam claimed he didn't require more time and had requested a divorce from Hope.
Liam emphasized the necessity to continue living his life on multiple occasions. He took a minute to contemplate before approaching Steffy and giving her a passionate kiss. In a short while, Steffy pulled Liam aside. Steffy's face took on a horrified expression.
